Swiss market to cool following record high
10/07/2017

Construction equipment sales in Switzerland are expected to stabilise around current levels over the coming years, according to a new study by Off-Highway Research. In 2016, sales of machinery exceeded 4,300 units, following a slump in 2015 from which the market has not yet recovered. Off-Highway Research’s forecast is for sales to remain around last year’s level for the next four years, rather than regaining the heights seen in 2013 and 2014.

“The market reached its highest recorded level of 4,745 units in 2014 with volumes remaining well above the average level of sales during the last 15 years,” said the report. It continued, “In line with the expectations of most suppliers, however, demand in 2015 finally cooled off, with sales of new equipment declining by around 12 per cent. The market now appears to have embarked on a return to its customary level of stability with modest growth of 2 per cent in 2016, and in the short to medium term is likely to remain relatively stagnant at current levels.”

Off-Highway Research’s 128-page report on the construction equipment industry in Switzerland is the definitive work on the industry, with analysis of the market for 19 types of construction equipment, economic and construction market background, and detailed profiles on country’s leading equipment producers and distributors.
